Well I picked up an 89 wagoneer with a semi freshly rebuilt 360. Lots of power. Ill have pics up soon. Pretty excited to get this project moving

Bla
So i found a job and have been working full time for about the past month and a half.. I am now on the look out for a motor. Idealy ill get a 360, a 401 would be <3 but ill settle for a good working 304 so i can get driving this jeep for the summer some and not have to beg rides/borrow car just to get to work. Hopefully find something in the next month or two. :)

hmm decent news
Today I got the dashboard off finally. One bolt on the speedo must be stripped where the nut is because all it does is spin, what a bummer. Looks like the speedo not working is just a cable problem should be an easy fix. I had gotten the key out of the ignition for the first time ever but then i put it back in and couldn't get it back out lol fail. Lets see i need to figure out why only the speedo lite works and the two turn signal lamps in the speedo the turn signals themselves do nothing. I need all new knobs. The heater controls are either missing or pretty much shot. Oil pressure and the volt meter appear to be broken. Steering column is fubar too. will have to figure out how i want to replace that.
Now on to the heater box... 2 bolts broke off already. one nut came off just fine. Last one i couldn't not get to yet since i was not able to get to it. The battery tray was in the way and 3 of 4 bolts are currently stuck. Soaking in pb blaster (love that stuff) and tomorrow ill bring up my new air compressor and impact wrench. But i found out why it smelled horrible.. There was a nest i believe of mouse. I got the fan assembly off and found poop there lots of it. YUCK! No dead mouse smell like i was smelling. Once i get it off and cleaned up and get new controls it should work pretty good. Oh yea needs all new vent tubes those were paper and tore up.
The dashboard itself is in great shape only minimal rust. Plans for now is to just wire wheel rust off and paint the front and back to avoid more rust problems. Will have photos tomorrow. Also today cleaned up the seats they are looking better but i have ideas for the seats in how i want them to function. On passenger side there is a tool box type thing under it. I want to make it a cooler using an AC unit to cool it. How amazing would that be? Also pretty sure there are no bushings any where on this heap.. and pretty sure no sway bar. Might be why the front end moves around when i turn the steering wheel and why it would wander so much while on the road.
Overall it felt like mostly good news. Was one of the first nice days out there. The very first it hit 85 and i did yard work, getting myself with some poison ivy how fun.

I am thinking i want a rear bumper like this. A spare tire carrier/mount + tow rated hitch mount would make that bumper ACE in my book. Think a swing out spare tire carrier mounted on bumper/tub would work out the best. Also found a set of front/rear leaf springs for 60 bucks on craigslist. score!

3-25-2011 late night
Alright, so some things ive noticed past couple days while slowly working on things. I have gotten the tow bar off. No need having that sitting on there when I wont be towing the jeep any place, the idea is this will be my daily driver for the summer then get an xj or zj or some other suv type thing for the winter and park the 6 into the garage and try to fix up the body. I have gotten all the screws out of the dashboard now to figure out how to get everything unhooked. I only spend an hour or so out there at a time since its still pretty cold in Michigan, dropped back into the 30s this week. While wrestling with the dashboard i was turning the steering wheel back and forth and noticed the whole front end moving. Need to figure that out. Oh yea forgot I got the hood off so it was more noticeable watching the radiator moving tons. On that note i wire wheeled off a bit of rust off the hood and painted it yellow. Wondering what color the jeep was originally this or that yellow. I am finding 2 shades of yellow and then one of the blue color.
Choices, I need to decide if i want to get a new windshield frame. The bottom is pretty rusted. New fenders and the tailgate. Those are the major rusted parts. I think everything but the tailgate is going to be pretty easy to fix. A new hood might be nice since it looks like its rusted under stuff thats welded together but im going with trying to save it.
Things that have to been, motor has to get fixed/replaced. Found an amc 360 for a great price, just needs 3 things and i can basically just drop it in where the 304 was with no problems. Needs new suspension all the way around. Shocks, leaves, shackles, shackle mounts, and leaf mounts are needed. Will need replacement wiper arms for sure since one is missing the spring to hold against windshield. Bound/motor mounts will all need to be replaced.
Would like a family style roll bar/cage. One that goes over the front seats and then goes over the back passengers. Better seats/seat holders. Some sort of radio. A hardtop, so far Ive only found a new soft top with doors for almost a grand OUCH! Nice big tuff bumpers with big fog lights in them and at least a winch up front. A hitch in the back so i can get a trailer, trailer is a story for a different time Ive seen many i love lately. Shoulder belts or maybe 5 point harnesses. An AMC 401 with fuel injection. Fancy paint job. 36 inch tires. Front disc brakes. Power steering. OBA (on board air) for some ARB air lockers front and rear (selectable lockers so when im on the road the diffs will be open). With lockers i want twin sticked D20. lets see i think thats enough dreaming for now yea? pretty sure. Going to sleep now.

Lets see, I got a job worked for a day then told i was let go because they hired too many people at once. I at least got the title that day and tons of bonuses. Not sure i have pictures of them all. Newer steering wheel, i belive a power steering part (geeze cant think of what its called), a set of brake pads, a bunch of spark plug wires, spare transfer case (has been IDed as a d20, it shifts in and out of gears think i might twin stick and put in place of my stuck in 4h d20), one front seat that says jeep on it and one that has a wonkey handle on top lol, a full set of white wheels and some old looking good year tires, 2 sets of flares, one is a set of bushwackers and one is a stock set off a YJ i think (first style wrangler with square headlights yuck), 2 wiper motors, some more headlight bezels (yay i can attempt to clean some up and paint them or something), trans cover and lastly a toolbox cover (has a built in toolbox under passenger seat).
